Former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe resigned as Equity Bank’s Group Director in charge of Customer Experience and Product Management and returned his nomination papers to Jubilee Party before nominations.
Nairobi residents have condemned the ongoing discussions of involving Polycarp Igathe in top City politics in relation to his past dirty games at City Hall.
A source said the intervention by Harambee House was part of a ploy by the executive to politically position itself through the capture and control of county resources.
These deals include diverting county revenue to personal accounts and forcing the procurement officers to award tenders to companies related to him.
Igathe’s resignation at City Hall left the then Governor with double work after appointing activist Miguna Miguna failed by the county assembly citing him unsuitable to the position.
“Azimio has formed a committee to look into areas where the coalition would field a single candidate to enhance its chances of winning and Nairobi is among the counties where the coalition mulls fielding one candidate for every seat,” said an insider from Jubilee Party.
Nairobi residents unfortunately have not welcomed Igathe to City politics believing he is a pessimist and would fail his electorates before lapse of his term.
