As part of their ongoing football mentorship partnership program with select school games giants, the Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) last week donated football merchandise to St. Joseph’s Boys National High school in Kitale.
The donations of 15 high quality soccer balls were delivered to the school by the MOFA staff and received by the school head who thanked the team for their support in ensuring that the school continues developing and nurturing young football talent in the region.
MOFA entered into a partnership with renowned schools with a rich football background in a move aimed at mentoring and developing future football players.
MOFA, which is domiciled in Othoro in Oyugis, Homabay County, is comprised of the senior team and a football academy and was founded and run by Harambee stars captain Qatar-based striker Michael Olunga with key objective in sports mentorship.
The MOFA Academy entered into a partnership agreement with Academic and sporting giants St. Joseph’s Boys School in Kitale, Agare Sare School in Homabay County and St Mary’s School Yala in Siaya County and Kisumu Day in Kisumu County.
MOFA trains and nurtures talent from the age groups of under 10 to under 18. The Academy also runs a football team MOFA FC which plays in the Football Kenya Federation National Division One League.
The schools under the partnership, offer educational scholarships to students from the football academy to pursue their education as they continue to hone their skill at football.
At the same time, MOFA has continued with their preparations ahead of their planned participation in the upcoming Gothia Cup scheduled to take place in Gothenburg Sweden.
The MOFA academy team played in a build up match against Rainbow FC as they prepare to leave the country for the annual Gothia Cup which brings together junior teams from different countries in world all converged in Sweden.
MOFA lost 2-0 to Rainbow as they sought to give different players in the squad a chance to test their readiness for action ahead of the tournament. MOFA said that the match was a “good build up” in their preparations.
