Hard pressing queens from Kayole in Nairobi East region Club Jojo are the winners of the inaugural Sakaja Super Cup ladies competition.
Club Jojo scored two first half goals to win the finals, completely outshining Kibagare Girls from Westlands Sub County 2-0 courtesy of captain Florence Akinyi.
Partnering with winger Faith Boke, Akinyi lead by example leading her charges against Kibagare in a match they dominated from the first whistle.
It was joy and jubilation as the Kayole based girls side were crowned champions winning the grand prize of one million shillings at a packed Police Sacco Stadium in South C, Starehe Sub County.
Kibagare Girls goal keeper had to put extra efforts to stop incessant attacks from a charged Club Jojo front-line who kept calling at her post.
Club Jojo were tactical coming into the match with confidence after they out-classed Makadara’s Michezo Halisi Kenya to a 4-2 victory in the Sakaja Super Cup Narobi East regional finals played last Sunday, 17 December 2023 at the ASK Jamhuri Show Grounds to set their date with Kibagare.
Club Jojo won the top prize, Ksh 1,000,000 and the glistering trophy while the runners up Kibagare bagged the second prize of Ksh 500,000. Michezo Halisi Kenya which finished in third place were awarded with Ksh. 250,000.
The tournament sponsored by the Sakaja Foundation in partnership with the Nairobi City County government and Football Kenya Federation was started in September and played in all 85 wards in Nairobi with 0ver 300 teams.
