Francis Awino, President of Bunge La Mwananchi, has urged President William Ruto to exercise caution in appointing Cabinet Secretaries, particularly in ministries like Roads and Transport.
Speaking at a press briefing, Awino emphasized the need for appointees with unwavering loyalty and impeccable integrity towards Kenya.
Bunge La Mwananchi highlighted the role of outgoing Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen in protecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) from external influences.
They stressed the importance of appointing a successor who will prioritize national interests and ensure transparent governance within these critical institutions.
“Protecting our national assets and ensuring parastatals operate in the best interests of Kenyans remains our priority,” stated Awino, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to safeguarding Kenya’s public integrity.
Awino also raised questions about the nomination of a Cabinet Secretary (CS) with ‘purported dual allegiances’ to Kenya and Somalia, which they argue could compromise national interests.
The concerns raised by Bunge La Mwananchi come amidst ongoing political changes following the cabinet dissolution, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments within the Ministry of Roads and Transport under President Ruto’s new administration.
