In a recent national survey conducted by pollster Microtrak Africa, Water Resources Authority (WRA) Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Shurie and Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) CEO Bruno Linyiru have emerged as the best-performing heads of parastatals in Kenya.

According to the survey, which was carried out between April 4 and April 6 across all 47 counties, Mohamed Shurie topped the list with an impressive performance score of 75 percent. Bruno Linyiru followed closely in second place, scoring 72 percent. The survey aimed to assess leadership effectiveness, impact of institutional reforms, and public confidence in the operations of state corporations.

Mohamed Shurie has been widely praised for his transformative leadership at the Water Resources Authority. Under his stewardship, the institution has streamlined resource management, improved water conservation strategies, and enhanced transparency in service delivery. His commitment to environmental sustainability and water security has positioned the WRA as a model parastatal, earning respect from stakeholders across the country.

Bruno Linyiru, on the other hand, has led sweeping reforms at the Agriculture and Food Authority. His initiatives have focused on improving food safety, empowering farmers through value chain development, and enhancing agricultural productivity. Linyiru’s forward-looking policies have made a significant impact on food security and the livelihoods of thousands of small-scale farmers.

Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) CEO Rose Mkalama secured third place with a commendable score of 68 percent, while Henry Rithaa, CEO of the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), came fourth with 66.2 percent.

The survey highlights the importance of visionary leadership in driving public sector transformation and improving service delivery for the benefit of all Kenyans.
