NAIVASHA, KENYA September 30, 2025 –Over 400 women and children in Naivasha benefited from health talks and soap donations during a hygiene sensitization campaign at Naivasha Level 4 Hospital.
The initiative, spearheaded by Pwani Oil Products Ltd in partnership with Kenya Progressive Nurses Association (KPNA), sought to curb hygiene-related illnesses in the locality.
Naivasha, like many parts of Kenya, grapples with water and sanitation challenges that leave residents vulnerable to diarrhoeal diseases, cholera, and typhoid. Communities in Kihoto, Karagita, Kamere, Manera, DCK, and Tarambeta lack proper sewerage infrastructure, exposing children and vulnerable populations to high disease risks.
The 2025 Economic Survey underscores the urgency of hygiene sensitization for residents, revealing that 2.85 million diarrhoeal cases were attended to at health facilities in 2024, accounting for 4.3 percent of Kenya’s total outpatient disease burden.
During the sensitization campaign at Naivasha Level 4 Hospital, frontline nurses and health educators conducted live demonstrations on effective handwashing and personal hygiene practices. Beneficiaries also received Detrex soap, an antibacterial solution developed to protect families against communicable diseases.
“We are committed to supporting communities in their fight against preventable illnesses through hygiene education and access to safe, germ-protection products,” said Pwani Oil Commercial Director Rajul Malde.
Detrex soap, available in Aloe Vera, Cool Mint, Citronella Oil, and Pine Drops variants, was distributed to women and caregivers at the hospital, reinforcing Pwani Oil’s mission to empower women as frontline defenders of family health.
This campaign forms part of Pwani Oil’s People Pillar under its social impact agenda, which prioritizes disease prevention, community health, and strategic partnerships aimed at improving daily health outcomes across Kenya.
