Commission on Administrative Justice Chairperson Florence Kajuju, was Tuesday morning elected President of the African chapter of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).
The election comes weeks after the Kajuju was elected to the Board of Directors of the IOI and she will serve for a term of four years.
Kajuju who is also the Secretary General of the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) welcomed the her election saying it is a reflection of recognition and confidence the international ombudsman institutions have in the Kenya’s Ombudsman in promoting good governance.
As President of the African region, Hon. Kajuju looks forward to working with colleagues across the continent and globally in advancing the shared goals of nurturing robust ombudsman institutions that significantly contribute to realization of Africa’s vision for good governance, human rights and the rule of law.
IOI is the internationally recognized body of Ombudsman institutions, established in 1978 to support its members through funding research, providing training, promoting information exchange and sharing learning while engaging in relevant dialogue with key international organizations and stakeholders.
IOI is organized around six regions; Africa, Europe, Caribbean & Latin America, Australasia & Pacific, Asia and North America with a secretariat based in Vienna, Austria.
