In the last decade, smart home technologies have rapidly transformed everyday living, with electronics and appliance manufacturers racing to automate household tasks. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) has been especially pivotal, enabling the rise of smart home appliances that simplify daily routines. According to a recent study by researchers from the University of Oxford, AI experts predict that up to 40% of household chores — including cooking, cleaning, and laundry — will be automated within the next 10 years.

It is against this backdrop that LG Electronics (LG) East Africa, in partnership with one of its distributor Hotpoint Appliances Ltd, participated in the Smart Mommy Parenting Summit 2025, held at the Sarit Center, Nairobi, on May 31, 2025. The summit offered a day of authentic conversations and engaging discussions on making parenting easier.

Held under the theme ‘Real Tools, Real Talk, Real Growth,’ the event brought together families, parenting experts, and tech-savvy moms for interactive sessions and a hands-on showcase of LG’s latest home appliances and entertainment solutions. The event spotlighted LG’s smart electronics for their potential to automate household tasks and bring efficiency, ease, and enjoyment to modern family life.

Jane Kariuki, Head of Marketing at LG Electronics East Africa, said:

“We are proud to partner with Hotpoint and Smart Mommy Kenya to support families with premium solutions that make life easier. From the kitchen to the living room, our smart appliances are designed to save time and enhance the family experience. Whether it’s our energy-efficient washing machines or our cutting-edge TVs, LG is committed to delivering purposeful technology that makes parenting smoother and more fulfilling.”

Komal Dawani, Head of Marketing at Hotpoint Appliances Ltd, added:

“At Hotpoint, we understand the effort it takes to run a home and raise children. As LG’s distributor, we are dedicated to ensuring families across Kenya have access to reliable, innovative appliances that lighten the load and bring everyday convenience.”

The summit featured an extensive product showcase of LG’s premium home solutions, including televisions, soundbars, refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, and microwaves ovens, all tailored for modern families seeking smarter, more efficient living.

LG’s home automation solutions, primarily through the LG ThinQ platform, allow users to automate various household tasks and control connected appliances from anywhere. This automation can range from simple routines like turning lights on and off to more complex actions like adjusting air conditioning based on occupancy and temperature and managing laundry cycles and monitoring your appliance usage, energy monitoring and easy and fast diagnosis.

Smart Mommy Kenya commended LG for responding to the real needs of parents with practical tools and innovations that enhance their daily routines.
