In a nation where water scarcity and flooding pose persistent challenges, Eng. Julius Mugun stands at the forefront of Kenya’s water management efforts. As the Chief Executive Officer of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority (NWHSA), Mugun is leveraging over two decades of technical expertise to guide the country toward greater water security.
With a clear mandate to develop and manage national public water works, Mugun’s leadership is defined by a focus on critical issues like water storage, flood control, and emergency response. His deep understanding of civil and geotechnical engineering is a cornerstone of his approach, built on a strong academic background that includes a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Birmingham in the UK and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Mugun’s commitment to professional excellence is reflected in his affiliations with several prestigious organizations. He is a Registered Professional Engineer of Civil Engineering, a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), and a member of both the Tunneling Association of Kenya (TAK) and the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) Kenya. These memberships not only underscore his technical prowess but also his comprehensive grasp of the legal and logistical complexities involved in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Under his guidance, the NWHSA is actively collaborating with county governments to bolster water access and resilience nationwide.
