Victoria Cup, a golf union tournament between Kenya and Uganda will officially commence on Thursday 28th with each team represented by ten players.

The contest which is set to happen in Limuru Country Club will see Kenya bringing home the trophy or Ugandans to retain.

The tournament was not held in the past two years due to the strike of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

The Kenya Golf Union had initially named 17 players who have been undergoing training under coach John van Liefland, in preparation for the contest and finally picked the best ten to represent the nation.

Kenya Golf Union chairman Njani Ndiritu speaking to the press on Tuesday said; “Since the inauguration of the Victoria Cup in 2016, Kenya has won three times and lost to Uganda in 2019. The event is happening again for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic regulations were eased.”

Top Golfer Dennis Maara is among ten players who have been picked by the Kenya Golf Union(KGU).

Others include Adel Balala, Christopher Andrea, Daniel Kiragu, Andrew Wahome, Ebill Omollo, John Lejirma,and Njoroge Kibugu. Other players in the Kenya team include Michael Karanga and Sammy Mulama.

Talking at the training venue, Maara has reassured Kenyans of restoration of back following the vast practice they had through couch John Van Liefland.
