Machakos; July 24, 2023: Football Kenya Federation (FKF) today inked a multi million partnership with the Machakos County Government which is aimed at constructing a Technical Center in Machakos.

In its bit to to improve the Federation’s football infrastructure, FKF entered the partnership with the county government which will see the county government lease a 20 acre parcel of land in Machakos to FKF for a period of 33 years for the construction of the center. FKF, on its part, will commit $4.5 Million (Sh639,480,000) from its FIFA Forward funds to the project.

The center is envisioned to house one natural grass pitch and two artificial turf pitches as well as an administration block fully equipped with offices and conference rooms.

Speaking at the launch, FKF President Nick Mwendwa emphasized the need for football infrastructure across the country to support holistic football development. This is as he also thanked the Machakos County Government for partnering with FKF on the monumental project.

“If we are to develop our football wholistically, then we also have to develop our infrastructure. We have spent a lot hiring training venues for our national teams and special projects. This technical center will not only reduce our costs but also work towards giving our players a conducive environment to explore their potential,” said FKF President Nick Mwendwa.

“I must say Asante Sana to Governor Wavinya Ndeti for welcoming us to Machakos. We believe that this project will be of mutual benefit to both FKF and Machakos County,” added the FKF President.

Details on the groundbreaking of the projects shall be announced in due course soon as funds for the project are made available to FKF by World Governing Body FIFA.
