Nairobi Member of County Assembly for Laini Saba Ward, John Musila, also known as Kaende, has assured residents that Kenya Power will not disconnect its services in the area.
Amidst rampant power theft in major towns, Kenya Power initiated operations to disconnect areas with controversial land ownership and illegal connections. Laini Saba Ward received warnings of possible disconnections due to such issues.
However, following intervention by the area MCA, Kenya Power has agreed to maintain the power supply.
“I have had a meeting with the Kenya Power team and they have promised not to disconnect power from the ward. As residents, it’s our obligation now to correct every mess in our homes,” Kaende said during a meeting with Kibra Structure owners in the ward.
Kaende highlighted the dangers of tampering with electric connections, including the risk of fire outbreaks.
He also urged residents to enroll their children in colleges and TVETs to address local insecurity.
“We don’t want our children to be victims of police shootings due to involvement in robbery and other crimes. We have bursaries applied quarterly; let your children apply and get to driving school, catering, and other technical courses,” Kaende encouraged.
