The Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mwichuli has been appointed the Secretary in-charge of Gender, Parnerships and Advocacy in the newly created Office of the Women Rights Advisor to the President.

Mwichuli will now work in the national government, serving under President William Ruto’s Women rights advisor Harriet Chiggai.

Mwichuli, who was appointed to the position of CEO at the PRSK in September 2021, has led the society into massive expansion when PRSK managed to increase its membership base by 54 percent and diversified the professional development.

As the Secretary in-charge of gender, parnerships and advocacy in the Office of the Women Rights Advisor, Mwichuli will be actively engaged in the policy formulation and advisory role to the executive.

In congratulating Mwichuli, PRSK president Arak Karani said that Mwichuli had been instrumental in the growth of the society and her new position will further put the Public Relations profession at a vantage point to have their imput in national government policy making organs.

“Through her leadership, we have been able to increase our membership by 54 percent, diversified our professional development by developing a tiered CPD calendar that speaks to our members needs,” Karani said.

PRSK organised the East Africa Public Relations week, a regional conference that was attended by delegates from seven countries.

Karani noted that the top leadership position will be an advantage to the public relations practitioners who have an opportunity to be listened to especially during the IPRAC bill process that is expected in parliament.
